That's what I get when I ask people what my writing style is like.
I write poems, plays, and screenplays from time to time.
Mostly jokes, tbh.

This monologue is part of a scene selected for a finalist as part of Nosotros Season 5. As an emerging screenwriter, I am interested in seeing how my pieces get interpreted from production to other actors performance. My scene was being produced by a wonderful actress and friend, and I told her that the piece is hers to play with. But before I let go, I wanted to film and perform my favorite except. I did this the day before filming, a year and a half after writing this scene, to see what it means to me now. I thought I would be at a different stage of my life, but somehow I am still connected with this moment being said. Being an artist, and making money for a living wage, can be exhausting. This is the process of an artist. Letting go, collecting the check, expressing yourself, making art, and learning how to balance it all. I call this side effects of the hustle.
